The EO Managing Editor writes, edits and manages our over 100 volunteer contributors. The Managing Editor’s mission is to grow Earth.Org’s global readership.
Earth.Org is a not-for-profit digital environmental organisation based in Hong Kong. Our aim is to bring attention to what is happening to natural ecosystems worldwide. We advocate for sustainable economic policies, for the protection of the natural environment, and an extension of governance or oversight to cover the global commons. We believe that humans can find a truly sustainable long term pathway that awards future generations an inheritance at least as good as that which we have enjoyed.

Responsibilities:
Writing & Editing
- Take ownership of the editorial calendar for Earth.Org and Kids.Earth.Org
- Edit content appearing on the website and on social media channels
- Write both breaking news stories and feature articles of your own
- Lead and execute the SEO strategy, conducting keyword research and improving and monitoring the articles’ performance
- Putting together monthly reports to report back on performance and apply insights
- Manage and produce the various Earth.Org newsletters
Outreach & Relationships Management
- Nurture & expand network of volunteer contributors working in-house and remotely
- Provide constructive feedback and editorial guidance, transforming the engagement into a mutual learning opportunity
- Mentor, encourage and motivate contributors to deliver consistently
Interviews
- Lead and execute outreach efforts for monthly series of online talks
- Take ownership of EO Talks calendar
Essential Qualifications:
- Superb command of the English language
- Highly organised team player, used to working under pressure
- Self-motivated with a can-do attitude
- Excited by the challenge of growing and scaling up
- Ability to inspire others and work independently
- At least 3 years previous experience writing and editing the work of others
- Degree in Journalism, English Literature, Media Studies or other relevant fields
- Strong planning and organising capabilities and good time management
- Be at ease in a fast-paced and multicultural environment
- The candidate must have permission to work in Hong Kong
