The Marine Diaries is a 1% for the Planet non-profit organisation, using digital media and storytelling to communicate ocean science and bridge the gap between the scientific community and the public. Dedicated to raising awareness of organisms, people, and issues alike, their mission is to give the ocean a voice. Through campaigns and educational projects, they connect people with the ocean, educating and influencing the public, and inspiring the next generation of ocean warriors.
The Director, Rebecca Daniel leads a team of over 30 volunteers, who all use their skills for science communication. After learning about the devastating impacts of plastic on marine life, Rebecca coordinated a campaign on marine plastic pollution for The Marine Diaries to educate the public on this topic and provide solutions to reducing plastic consumption. The Marine Diaries also creates educational materials for use by the public, schools, and conservation organisations.
